Dear Mr. President... | Fundraiser dinner, Seattle, Wash.

Photographing the arrival of the POTUS always sounds exciting, but rarely lives up to the hype. The first time the Prez made it in front of my lens was in 2011 for a private talk inside of the Paramount Theatre. This time, a swanky fundraiser dinner with a number of the richest elite drew him to Hunts Point. As per usual, many hours of camping out and waiting unfolded, but I'm happier with my images from this visit much more than last year's madhouse. Enjoy!

President Barack Obama's motorcade pulls onto Hunts Point Road on the way to a private fundraiser dinner at the home of former Costco CEO Jim Sinegal Tuesday, July 24, 2012, at Hunts Point, Wash. The residential road - blocked off by police in the hours before the motorcade's arrival - was lightly populated with homeowners, supporters and protesters.

Jacqueline Niles, 11, left, and her friend Grace Dillon, 11, center left, leave a neighborhood local swimming pool to head home while Teri McClain, center, and Mary Beth Brotski, right, wait with signs for President Barack Obama's motorcade to leave Hunts Point Road following a private fundraiser Tuesday, July 24, 2012, at Hunts Point, Wash. "We didn't know that Obama was coming," Niles said. "We came out and thought there was like a murder or something."

Zach Galifianakis & Will Ferrell | Portrait - Seattle, Wash.

If you have the time, I wrote a blog post for The Seattle Times on my experience photographing this dynamic duo. I could post the saga here, but it's relatively long and best read and viewed on the S.T. website.  The post includes setup images, the story of how I almost blew this portrait and a description of the general feeling of my heart about to explode whilst making pictures of these two jokers. That post can be read here. Enjoy!

Lucha Libre | Mexican Wrestling in the streets of South Park, Wash.

Rule #58674635: If something comes up after your shift and you feel too pooped to get yourself there, you should go. Naturally, it will turn out to be the best thing you photographed all day (or all month, for that matter). An impromptu Mexican wrestling event - complete with a legit ring in the center of an intersection - was my most recent reminder of this. Enjoy the glistening, shaven flesh.

Seafair | The Pirates

Under a cloudless summer sky, thousands of onlookers clustered along the beach to watch a swath of Seafair Pirates exit their boat to charge the masses Saturday, July 7, 2012, at Alki Point in Seattle, Wash. While on course toward the shore, the marauders' boat ran aground on an unforeseen sandbar several feet below the surface of the water. The glitch was quickly forgotten after the boat's captain reset the vessel's course and the rusty gate dropped, letting loose the pack of pirates.

Apologies + New Beginnings

Long story short: time has passed. I back in my hometown of Seattle, Washington, and after a number of years of blood, sweat, tears and endless applications, I'm closing out my internship "career" with my original goal: The Seattle Times.

I apologize for the lack of blog updates in the past month. The road back from Utah, a last-minute international assignment and the all consuming nature of the beginning of an internship has had me wrapped up. Sorry for the delay - now back to the main events. As always, thank you for taking time out of your life to look at moments from mine.
