Late October | Ballard, Washington

After extensive moving and travelling, I'm settling back into the Seattle vibe. Enjoy some miscellaneous pictures from around my home.  Expect more of these kinds of posts; having gone full freelance with The Emerald Collective as of two months ago, I rediscovered the freedom of making pictures with no purpose but for simple personal content. Enjoy.

Dear Mr. President... | Fundraiser dinner, Seattle, Wash.

Photographing the arrival of the POTUS always sounds exciting, but rarely lives up to the hype. The first time the Prez made it in front of my lens was in 2011 for a private talk inside of the Paramount Theatre. This time, a swanky fundraiser dinner with a number of the richest elite drew him to Hunts Point. As per usual, many hours of camping out and waiting unfolded, but I'm happier with my images from this visit much more than last year's madhouse. Enjoy!

President Barack Obama's motorcade pulls onto Hunts Point Road on the way to a private fundraiser dinner at the home of former Costco CEO Jim Sinegal Tuesday, July 24, 2012, at Hunts Point, Wash. The residential road - blocked off by police in the hours before the motorcade's arrival - was lightly populated with homeowners, supporters and protesters.

"We didn't know that Obama was coming," Niles said. "We came out and thought there was like a murder or something."

Hope of America

Propaganda. Patriotism. Sing-alongs. Hope of America. Staff photographer James Roh's response when told over the phone that he would be shooting it for the second year in a row: "Oh, God, please no. No no no no..."

... but wait! The intern! Give it to the intern. Me. "No worries," I thought. Right? Wrong!
