Snoqualmie Falls, freezing over
The cold wave in Western Washington reduced Snoqualmie Falls to some world-class icicles Monday, Dec. 9, 2013, in Snoqualmie. The cold temperatures are expected to moderate through the week. Officials at Puget Sound Energy say icy conditions such as these occur about once a year. The conditions have not stopped or hurt power production of the hydroelectric plant at the falls. Water has continued to flow. (Jordan Stead, seattlepi.com)
