Wah Mee massacre site burns in Seattle's International District
An estimated 90 firefighters battled a two-alarm blaze that began around 4 PM Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2013, at 669 South King Street in Seattle. The cause of the fire is still unknown and continues to be considered "out of control." Shortly after 8 PM, firefighters reduced it to a one alarm response, but officials stated personnel would be stationed throughout the night. The American Red Cross was called to assist at least 22 displaced residents. The building was the site of the 1983 Wah Mee massacre, in which 13 people were killed in a robbery at the Wah Mee gambling club. (Jordan Stead, seattlepi.com)

Bon Odori
Dozens of participants - some in traditional garb - take part in the Mi Kokoro dance at the 80th annual summer festival of Bon Odori Sunday, July 22, 2012, at the Seattle Buddhist Temple in Seattle, Wash. Also known as Obon, the festival is an official Seafair event intended to honor ancestors who have passed on and to remember and appreciate all they have done. Many festivalgoers dress in Japanese kimono or yukata. The event also features Japanese food booths and refreshment, taiko and martial arts performances, and craft exhibits and demonstrations.
