...Suddenly something epic happens. I'm not super pumped on the composition or focal point of the picture, but I felt like it warranted a post. It's rare to see such a valiant attempt by a player that lines up nicely with another teammate and opponent in the same frame.
Westlake's Lindsey Boelter, center, tosses her sliding catch to teammate Kasey Adams, right, to secure second base during a tournament game against Cyprus High School on Thursday, May 17, 2012, at Westlake High School in Saratoga Springs, Utah. Westlake High won the game 10-2 against Cyprus High School.

Color Me Rad 5K Run | Orem, Utah
I know, I know, it looks just like my Holi post from a month or so back. But that's because the Color Me Rad 5K Run basically was the same thing... except this time, people jogged around. As an event, I thought Holi was a lot cooler and more fun to shoot, but I did what I could in an hour's time for Color Me Rad. Enjoy the color insanity, once again.

Ropes Course | Standalone hunt
Another hot, slow newsday - time to hunt for some standalone art. Since my editor had shot at this location the week before, this image did not run. Regardless of its absence from print, I figured it was worthwhile enough of a picture to post. It's not perfect, but it reminds me of summer camp. Enjoy.

BYU Volleyball | Something a little different
Rarely am I moved by a sports image in any aspect outside of the capture of peak action. During a match between BYU and Long Beach State, Brigham Young's Robb Stowell reacted to a point against his team in one of the places in the stadium with an ethereal background. Luckily, I had spent a solid 15 minutes on the floor of the BYU side of the game shooting tight with a 300mm - something that rarely pays off. The centered composition, an absent background and the multi-directional light on Robb during such a moment jumped out at me. When you see that weird frame in your take that appeals to you (and maybe you only!), do not be afraid to move it. What's the worst that could happen? Enjoy!

Lindon Tithing House | A coming end?
At its roots, this assignment was a guy showing a reporter and myself around an old house slated for destruction. For one second, he went silent; pressing his hand to to the crumbling brick. Click.
I never would have thought a moment would have come out of this, but hey - that's the beauty of this work. You just never know. Enjoy!
Lynn LeMone, head chair of the Historical Lindon Commission, gives a tour of a bishop's tithing house Friday, March 16, 2012, in Lindon, Utah. LeMone, along with the rest of the commission, is trying save the home from destruction.

Brigham Young Men's Basketball vs. Santa Clara
Full speed ahead on the sports. This was one of the first games I photographed in Utah that I felt "in the zone" on. Maybe it was the added pressure of sending to the Associated Press and Salt Lake Tribune at halftime, but something worked better for me than what I was doing before. Thanks to editor Mark Johnston for a light kick in the rear beforehand.
*NOTICE TO NON-PHOTOGRAPHERS: The next line down will seem incredibly geeky and leave you scratching your head. Skip it, and go straight to the pictures.
*NOTICE TO PHOTOGRAPHERS: The light in BYU's Marriott Center is unlike anything I have ever seen or photographed in for indoor sports - it's insanely good. Averaging 1/800th at f/2.2 at ISO 500 on one of my two camera bodies, life is great. Come to Utah and see for yourself!
